This year, as we did last year, Somerset ran a sausage sizzle outside Bunning’s Cannington store as a fund raiser. Using some of the knowledge we gained last year, we served sizzling sausages on bread rolls with onions and sauce all day, and made a greater profit than we did in 2012.
Vice-President Mike Millard, who was responsible for organising the day said:
“A big thankyou to all of you for volunteering your valuable time to making the Bunnings Sausage Sizzle a success yesterday. We could not have done it without your help.We sold out all our sausages and buns (including an additional 36 that we had to purchase to keep us operating past 4.00pm) and only had about 50 drinks left. I am pleased to say we made a profit of $1311.00.”
A few more lessons have been learned – mainly to do with the appropriate storage of cut onions overnight – but overall it was a lot of fun and certainly an excellent way to raise money for the club. If you weren’t there helping this year, we hope you will be there next year.
