All Pool Swimming Activity Suspended

E-mail Print PDF

In response to the COVID-19 situation, Masters Swimming Western Australia suspended all pool competitions on Sunday 15 March.  As part of their response to the COVID-19 situation, the Town of Victoria Park closed Aqualife and the Leisurecentre on Thursday 19 March.  This resulted in the Swimming Club having no venue to train in.  Shortly after, all pool and gym facilities in Perth were closed.  Therefore, as of Thursday 19 March, all Club activities in pools have been suspended until further notice.

If any Club members are keen to continue some swimming, ocean swimming offers an alternative, at least until beaches are closed or it becomes too cold.  Somerset Masters Swimming Club had groups that swum at Port Beach on Saturday mornings and at Coogee Beach on Sunday mornings.  With the prohibition of public gatherings of more than two people, these group sessions are no longer being held.  However, this does not stop two people meeting up to have a swim together, as long as they practise appropriate social distancing.  As an added precaution, change rooms could be avoided.
