Somerset Masters Launch

Somerset AUSSI is now referred to as Somerset Masters Swimming Club which is in line with the change in name of the National organisation to Masters Swimming Australia, and the State branch to Masters Swimming Western Australia.

Why the changes?  Few people still know what AUSSI stands for and this is reflected in it often being written Aussi and Aussie.  Many people who recognise it is an acronym believe it stands for Adult Union of Senior Swimmers International.  In fact it stands for Australian Union of Senior Swimmers Incorporated.  The name no longer holds its original meaning for many of the current members of the organisation.  Furthermore, throughout the world the term Masters is well identified by governments, the media and the general public to refer to senior sportspersons.  It is time to catch up with international trends.

The website is now www.somersetmasters.org.au and has been revised to be given a more modern look and to be more easily maintained and updated.
